OSRS gold Crandor Access Explained

  • Crandor is an island located in the southern part of the Old School RuneScape (OSRS) world, a place filled with rich history, powerful enemies, and rewarding treasure. It's home to the Dragon Slayer quest, one of the most iconic and memorable quests in OSRS gold. However, getting to Crandor can be tricky for new and inexperienced players. This guide will walk you through the various ways to access Crandor, including methods for both the early game and endgame players, so you can navigate the island and take part in its many challenges.

    Understanding Crandor

Before we delve into the ways of getting to Crandor, let's first understand what makes this location significant in OSRS. Crandor is primarily famous for being the setting of the Dragon Slayer quest, which involves the player slaying the mighty Elvarg, a green dragon who resides on the island. The island's unique environment, dangerous enemies, and the need for special access make it a destination every serious OSRS player should visit at least once.

Accessing Crandor is not an easy task, and this is part of what makes it an exciting and rewarding place to explore. The island is cut off from the rest of the world, requiring players to take specific steps before they can set foot there. There are multiple ways to get to Crandor, each with its own requirements and considerations.

How to Get to Crandor in OSRS: Methods

    The Dragon Slayer Quest Method

The most common reason players need to visit Crandor is to complete the Dragon Slayer quest. This quest is a milestone in OSRS, especially for those looking to level up their combat skills and access powerful gear. To start the quest, you'll need to speak to Obrien in the Edgeville and follow the questline through various tasks, which ultimately lead you to Crandor.

The Journey to Crandor During Dragon Slayer

Once you reach the point in the Dragon Slayer quest where you must travel to Crandor, you'll encounter the Karamja ship. The ship sails between the Karamja Volcano and the Port Sarim dock. Here's how you will proceed:

Complete the Karamja Volcano Part of the Quest: Before you can access the ship, you will need to progress through the quest's Karamja Volcano segment. This will involve fighting certain enemies, gathering items, and clearing out obstacles.

Find the Karamja Ship: The ship is docked at Port Sarim, a southern port town in the game. When you first visit this location, it will be impossible to access Crandor unless you've reached the proper part of the Dragon Slayer quest.

Pay the Captain: To board the ship and head to Crandor, you will need to pay the captain, Karamja Ship Captain, a fee of 30 coins. The ship only leaves from Port Sarim, so you need to ensure you are in the right spot.

Boarding the Ship: After paying the fee, the captain will sail you to Crandor. The journey itself is quite simple; the ship will leave the port, head south, and reach the island of Crandor. From here, you'll find yourself on the island's beach, ready to continue your quest.

Slaying Elvarg: Once you land on Crandor, you will find your way to the cave where Elvarg resides. She's a green dragon that you must defeat to complete the quest. Be sure to come prepared, as she is a powerful boss and can easily take you down if you're underprepared.

    Dragon Slayer Rewards

Once you've completed the quest and slain Elvarg, you'll be rewarded with numerous benefits, including:

The ability to wear the Rune Platebody: This is one of the best in-game armor pieces, especially for those early in their adventure.

Access to the Dragonfire Shield: A useful shield with great defensive stats.

Strength experience: As a significant part of the quest, you will earn combat experience.

A quest point and the joy of completing one of the game's hardest early quests.

    1. Using a Karamja Teleport

If you have completed the Dragon Slayer quest and don't want to go through the buy RS gold ship journey every time, you have an alternative method of getting to Crandor: the Karamja teleport. This spell, unlocked through the Lunar Spellbook, allows you to teleport to Karamja instantly. However, this will only teleport you to the Karamja area, which is close to the port where you catch the ship to Crandor. This method saves you time and makes the trip much faster for those who have already completed the quest.

    1. Using the Fairy Rings

Another more advanced method involves using the Fairy Rings transportation system. Although the Fairy Ring system is generally more useful for getting to other locations in OSRS, it can be utilized to get to the Karamja area, making your journey to Crandor even quicker.

To use the Fairy Rings, you must have access to the Fairy Tale II - Cure a Queen quest. Once you complete the quest, you can use the Fairy Rings located at Mushroom Patch or other locations to transport yourself closer to the Karamja area. From there, you can proceed to board the ship that sails to Crandor.
